Two more weeks’ punishment for Gabriel Mackle!

New screws in the CSU in Maghaberry jail must be trying to earn stripes from their paymasters judging by their aggressive attitude towards Gabriel Mackle. Since their arrival at the beginning of the month, the heating in Gabriel’s cell has been turned up high and as the windows don’t open the cell is suffocating. This has long been the practice in police cells but not in prisons.

On May 5, 2017, Gabriel was taken to see a doctor at his own request. He was taken to the doctor, a nurse was also in the room, by two screws who refused to leave the room and stood at the open door within earshot of what was being said. Because of this Gabriel refused to discuss anything with the doctor or nurse and left the room.  Later when Gabriel was on the phone to his wife his call was stopped after only five minutes.

Also on May 5, Gabriel was adjudicated on and charged with refusing a direct order on March 31 to go to Bann House. His radio was removed from his cell and he cannot make an order to the tuck shop for two weeks. This is indeed an act of vindictive aggression. As was stated previously, when Gabriel refuses to move into the loyalist section of the prison, that refusal is being used to further punish him. He still has had no visits and has only a short phone call during the day.

All this on the anniversary of the death of Bobby Sands who died fighting criminalisation of political POWs. How infuriating that 36 years later there is an attempt to criminalise Republican prisoners, not just by the prison regime but by POWs in Roe House who suddenly change the rules to gain control of the wing.

Maghaberry Prison -THE ONGOING NEGLECT AND TORTURE BEING INFLICTED ON Gary McDaid – Maghaberry Prison !!!!

END THE ABUSE IN MAGHABERRY

The ongoing Neglect and Torture inflicted on Gary McDaid

It has been brought to the attention of the IRPWA that Gary McDaid is suffering a debilitating illness within the walls of MagHaberry but has been informed by the authorities that he will not be receiving treatment as he is not a sentenced prisoner.

Gary suffers from a serious form of Glaucoma and there is a genetic family history of this disease which has led to family members suffering complete blindness.

The optician who was able to gain access to examine him stated that he had not seen such a rapid regression in one so young and without treatment, could lead to Gary losing his sight. His feet have also swollen to such an extent, he can’t put on shoes.

Last week saw charges against Gary for wrecking his cell. Any and all personal artifacts were removed including photographs of his children.

Gary is and has been on dirty protest as a result of the sectarian authorities within the gaol granting MI5 free reign to his cell to make approaches and mentally torture him.

He is existing in his own waste in solitary confinement with Loyalist prisoners being given access to bang on his cell door and shout threats consistently and this all appears to be part of a greater agenda by shadowy British crown forces to exert pressure on him through this form of torture.

His existence, ill, in a bare holding cell with a one inch rubber mattress and living with the stench and health implications through his protest, some would have you think had been consigned to history.

This is reality in 2013. This is British torture on Irish soil and typifies the age old disregard towards human rights for those not beholden to the British crown.

Help end the neglect in MagHaberry..Help highlight the ongoing injustices by a cruel British torture regime and those who back them.

2 years ago today, Marian Price was taken by the RUC on spurious charges, and immediately put into solitary confinement in MagHaberry gaol.. Her health declined and when she made bail, the British government stepped in and played their trump card of Interning her having first made sure evidence was destroyed. 2 years and still no justice, people through out the world are still demanding answers. Secretary of State refuses to meet Derry MLA on Price and McGeough prison cases

The Secretary of State has refused to meet with SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey to discuss the ongoing cases of Marian Price, Gerry McGeough and the protesting prisoners at Maghaberry Prison.

Mr Ramsey said that he was ‘disappointed and angry’ that Owen Paterson refused to meet with him and said his silence on the prison matters was ‘not conducive to efforts to address injustice and nurture public confidence in the justice system’.

Mr Ramsey said: “I wrote to the Secretary of State immediately after returning from a visit to see Marian Price on 13th January to request an urgent meeting to discuss her case and the ongoing incarceration of Gerry McGeough as well as the general situation within Roe House in Maghaberry Prison.  I received a reply from the Secretary this morning to say he would not meet me and that it would be ‘inappropriate’ for him to comment further.

STOP POLITICIAL POLICING

“I find it ‘inappropriate’ to say the least that Marian Price has had her licence revoked on the Secretary’s say so, and that Gerry McGeough is still held in Maghaberry due to Owen Paterson’s refusal to grant him justice.  The Secretary of State and the NIO‘s selective silence is not conducive to our efforts to address injustice and nurture public confidence in the justice system.”

Ms Price has been held in solitary confinement at Maghaberry Prison for over nine months without charge. She was arrested after holding a piece of paper for a masked man at an annual Easter Rising commemoration in Derry, a few days later Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Owen Paterson revoked her release from prison on license.

“Perhaps Mr Patterson’s time would be better spent in the archives of the NIO looking for Marian Price’s pardon that has been ‘lost’ if he is not available to elected representatives to give account for his actions – or inaction – and that of his staff,” Mr Ramsey said. “It is unacceptable and merely strengthens the will of those who seek to destroy the society we are building, by pointing out that unaccountable politicians in London continue to meddle in affairs that play out in our communities day and daily.”
