CELTIC have made moves to disband the Green Brigade section at Parkhead after labelling events during Friday night’s match at Fir Park “indefensible”. A reported £10,000 worth of damage was caused to seats in the lower section of the South Stand housing away fans – just above where a Green Brigade banner was displayed – during the 5-0 romp for Neil Lennon‘s men against Motherwell.

A flare was let off in the same area before the game, while two green smoke bombs were thrown into the goalmouth, one of them landing yards from Hoops goalkeeper Fraser Forster. Now the club have handed “precautionary suspensions” to 128 supporters preventing them from attending home and away matches, while 250 season-ticket holders housed in section 111 – the Green Brigade’s corner of Celtic Park – will be moved to other parts of the ground. Scottish Professional Football League chief executive Neil Doncaster also branded the events at Fir Park as “shameful” as he vowed to help the police track down those responsible for damaged seats. A Celtic spokesman said: “Following events on Friday evening at Fir Park Stadium, Celtic Football Club today announced that it has issued precautionary suspensions against 128 individuals preventing them attending matches involving Celtic, pending further investigation. These suspensions will cover matches at Celtic Park and away matches. “In addition, the club will be relocating around 250 season book holders in Section 111 to other areas within the stadium, or offering refunds covering the remainder of the season to those who do not wish to be relocated. “Events such as those on Friday night do not represent the Celtic support or the club. These events were an embarrassment to our great football club and are absolutely indefensible.”It is clear that there is an element which has no hestation in bringing Celtic’s name into disrepute.

This is someting the club will not tolerate and we therefore have no other option but to take this action. We will not allow the great name of Celtic to be damaged in this way any more – our supporters deserve more than this. “While recent events are very regrettable, we would like to thank our many thousands of fans for the wonderful, positive backing which they continue to give to Celtic. We are sure these supporters will understand the position which the club is in and we are also sure they will unite with the club as we move forward. “Celtic Football Club is in excellent shape on and off the field. The club is in a very safe and strong position and we have a young, exciting team working hard to deliver quality football and success for our supporters, as they did on Friday evening with a magnificent performance. That is what we want to be talking about and this is what we want to celebrate.

“Celtic has a proud 125-year history and fundamental to that history have been our fans. Our supporters enjoy a wonderful reputation earned across many years, many families and many generations. This is something we must protect vigorously.” The Green Brigade released a statement on Sunday insisting their members were not responsible for the damage but also admitted it should have self-policed the section at Fir Park better. Celtic have already given the ultras group one reprieve this year after reversing a decision to shut down Section 111 following complaints about saftey breaches back in August. UEFA, meanwhile, has opened disciplinary proceedings against the club after the Green Brigade unfurled a banner depicting IRA hunger strriker Bobby Sands and Scottish warrior William Wallace during last month’s Champions League clash with AC Milan. Police Scotland is now looking into the “significant damage” caused to the seats at Fir Park but confirmed no arrests were made inside the ground. Now SPFL chief Doncaster has confirmed the league body will take action against Celtic, with disciplinary proceedings expected to open by the end of the week. Under SPFL rule H40, if found guilty, Celtic will be ordered to pay for the damage.

Celtic Family’s support for Stiliyan Petrov

Celtic Family’s support for Stiliyan Petrov

NEIL Lennon has spoken for the entire Celtic family in describing his absolute devastation regarding the terrible news that Stiliyan Petrov has been diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

The Celtic manager is a friend and former team-mate of the Bulgarian midfielder, as is Alan Thompson and Johan Mjallby. And they, like everyone else, have been left stunned by the news of Petrov’s illness.
Neil Lennon said: “We are all absolutely devastated to hear this news. As a member of the Celtic family, it is important for Stiliyan to know that he has our unequivocal support in battling against this disease.

“Knowing Stiliyan as I do, and the many obstacles he has overcome in his life to get to the peak of his career, he will overcome this one too.

“On behalf of the players and the backroom staff we send our support and best wishes to Stiliyan, Paulina and the family. We are there for them all and they will never walk alone.”

Aston Villa today released a statement confirming that the 32-year-old midfielder, who is their club captain, has been diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

The statement said: “The Villa Board received news today that our long-standing captain Stiliyan Petrov has been diagnosed with acute leukaemia. Stiliyan developed a fever following the Arsenal game last Saturday and subsequently underwent tests conducted by Dr Ian McGuinness.

“Haematology experts confirmed the diagnosis today. We expect to learn more about Stiliyan´s situation in due course and we have moved quickly to support him and his family.

“During this time we ask that Stiliyan´s privacy is placed ahead of all inquiries and trust that we will share information as we receive it. Stiliyan is cherished by many and he will get from Villa every ounce of love and support that we have to help bring this to a positive conclusion.”

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: “This is terrible news and our support and prayers go to Stiliyan, Paulina and their family at this very difficult time.

“Stiliyan was an exceptional player for Celtic and helped to bring incredible success here during the seven years he spent at the club.

“He was also one of the most popular players here, not only within the club but with all our supporters and I know that they, too will want to pass on their support and best wishes to Stiliyan and his family.”

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL CELTIC FANS!!!PLEASE READ THIS!!!PLEASE “LIKE” IF …YOU ARE WITH US!!!Re: Murder charges dropped in the Neil Lennontrial!!!Enough is enough!!!

This has got to be the final straw!!!

We MUST take this message to the world!!!

Trevor Muirhead, 43, and Neil McKenzie, 42, who had been accused of conspiring to “assault and murder” Lennon, the late QC Paul McBride and ex-MSP Trish Goodman have had their charges massively reduced!!!

Despite sending a viable bomb…. YES a viable bomb the judge is not convinced that there was an attempt to murder!!!

This is just like the John Wilson trial ( Hearts fan who ran from the stands to attack Lenny)…. In that case Wilson was cleared of a religiously aggravated assault!!!! Despite the incident being witnessed live by millions!!!! Definitely a gate crime!!!

Do not listen to excuses based on legal “red tape”….. Do not let the Scottish justice system insult your intelligence!!!!

I wish Paul McBride was still alive to destroy these bigots in open court…. ( I include the presiding judge)!!!

They are a disgrace to the legal system!!!

The message is loud and clear!!!

Please forward this message far & wide so that the world can see these racists for what they are!!!

The time to “Stand up for Lenny” has come.

Please use any “Peaceful” means you have to do just that!!!

Do not resort to violence & bigotry!!!

‘We’re having a party as Rangers die’: Celtic fans express delight at financial crisis engulfing Old Firm foes

Cause for celebration: Celtic fans make their feelings clear over Rangers' administration woes as their side ease to victory over Hibs to move 17 points clear in the SPLCause for celebration: Celtic fans make their feelings clear over Rangers

Did we really expect anything else?

While Neil Lennon‘s men were taking care of business on the pitch, and moving 17 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier League in the process, the Celtic fans made their feelings towards Rangers perfectly clear.

One banner declared that they would be ‘having a party as Rangers die’ while t-shirts and flags were emblazoned with ‘HMRC‘ and messages from the Grim Reaper.

The scenes come after Celtic’s chief executive Peter Lawwell last week claimed that his club could survive without the blue half of the Old Firm.

But with the Sky and ESPN television deals dependent on both sides being in the SPL, and playing each other four times each season, both Lawell and the fans might want to reconsider their views.

On Friday, Lennon called for Rangers to be retrospectively stripped of their ‘tainted titles and trophies’ should the crisis-stricken Ibrox club be found guilty of ‘financial doping’.

‘A journalist recently used the expression ‘financial doping’ (in reference to Rangers) and, for me, doping is a sporting term for cheating,’ Lennon said.

‘And, in athletics, if you are caught doping, you are banned. Alberto Contador got stripped of his Tour de France win in 2010, so there are precedents there.

‘If it has had a direct effect on me in my playing days, I will come out and say something at that time.

‘As it is just now, it hasn’t been proved. But they (Rangers) are in administration for a reason and I am sure you guys (the media) will get to the bottom of it.

‘It’s not my business, not our club’s business, but it will be my business if it has affected me as a player or  previous managers and has denied us titles and trophies in the past

Laughing matter: Celtic fans were in no mood to show sympathy to their rivals as they thrashed Hibs 5-0 to rub salt into the wounds of the Ibrox club

It’s all hearsay and hot air at the minute but, until the findings are out, we as a club won’t comment any more on it.’

Rangers’ misery was compounded on Saturday as they lost 1-0 to Kilmarnock in front of a packed Ibrox crowd. The home fans showed their support for manager Ally McCoist who backed a full investigation into the clubs finances.

Indeed, as many as four such investigations will be carried out as various bodies look to get to the bottom of the crisis.

After the match, Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper insisted the Scottish Premier League title race is not over yet .

‘It was a great performance with some outstanding goals so we’re delighted,’ Stokes told Sky Sports.

Asked if Celtic’s achievements this season might be lessened by their rivals woes, Stokes said: ‘It’s not going to be. We’re just focusing on our selves. We’re in a good position in the league and concentrating on ourselves. We’re there at the top and that’s where we want to stay.

‘The title race is still alive. We’re going to go on to the last day in the title run-in. It was a very good performance today and we’re delighted with the result.’

Hooper echoed that sentiment, saying Celtic still need to take things one game at a time.

‘It was a good performance from both of us and the team, but we’re taking it game by game,’ Hooper said.

“We are very disappointed with the First Minister‘s claims that Celtic “need” Rangers and that Celtic “can’t prosper unless Rangers are there”.

“This is simply not true. In a series of interviews given just 3 days ago, we made it abundantly clear that Celtic has a well defined strategy and a business plan independent of the fortunes of any other c…lub. That remains absolutely the case”.

“The predicament of Rangers is clearly a serious and complex matter with a whole range of possible outcomes.

“However, we are extremely well qualified to make our own position clear and have no wish to see that being misrepresented for political reasons ”
