29th July 1915 – The remains of the late Fenian leader Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa are lying in state for three days at City Hall in Dublin.

The remains had been brought by the American liner St Paul from New York to Liverpool, and then transferred to the steamer Carlow, which conveyed them to Dublin.

Over 1500 people gathered in Ardboe on the Lough Shore of East Tyrone, on the 4th June 2011, to Remember 3 Volunteers who gave their lives for Irish Freedom 20 years ago. The march organised by the Volunteers Family’s in conjunction with the Eamonn Ceannt Society Coalisland/Clonoe and Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa Society Ardboe, was the pinnacle of a week of events celebrating the lives of Volunteers Tony Doris, Pete Ryan and Laurence McNally.

 

Support for the Protesting POWs in Magaberry Gaol was evident as over 30 ex POWs in white shirts and black ties marched flanked by two banners (ex POWs against strip searching & Prisoners Struggle continues).

On 3 June 1991, 20 years ago, three Volunteers of the Irish Republican Army, Pete Ryan, Tony Doris and Lawrence McNally were shot dead in Tyrone by undercover British forces. The same forces remain in Ireland to this day.
