End Internment – Release Gabriel Mackle

On November 9th our friend and comrade Gabriel Mackle was arrested in his home by the RUC/PSNI, he was given no reason and had no chance to say goodbye to his wife and children who were left distraught and shocked. This is the reality of British rule in Ireland, question it and you will quickly realise its faults and unjustified presence, speak against it and you face arrest or internment.

This is not isolated, currently a Derryman Tony Taylor is facing day 620 in Gaol (prison), again interned, no reason given. We where involved in the campaigns against the interment of Martin Corey in 2010 and Marian Price who had licences revoked on the word of a British secretary of state. There are other recent cases too. How long must this go on for? That the life’s and liberty of Irishmen & women can be ‘revoked’ on the word of, what is, a foreign aggressor.
Behind all this are suffering families and for what? For far off Westminster and its political spin doctors to skim the cream of profits that comes with occupying Ireland.
With Brexit, Westminster have shown they can barely run their own country and yet we allow them ruin ours!
Support those who struggle for Irish freedom and call for an end to internment, whether direct or by remand.
People out there think these men and women have nothing to do with issues currently at play on the national agenda, weather it be Brexit, political corruption, housing/homelessness, health, education, water related or industry related such as the billions of euros worth of fish, oil & gas, gold, zinc etc etc, yeah we have all that in Ireland, and more, its all given away!!! Tax free.
On the contrary you will find men such as Gabriel the most tuned in and attentive to the issues afflicting the nation.
People such as Gabriel are driven by love of their country, love of their people, love of liberty, they are driven for real change.
Remember this, those who are prepared to make the greatest change often suffer the greatest consequence.
For whose end, for yours!

Got this through Michilín Mhíc Fheargail: Aidan Hulme has been transferred to the hospital over the last few days, his foot and hand had swollen to great length we think he has caught septicemia as currently on medication through IV’s……His health is deteriorating daily and he should not be returned back to Portlaoise!!

A REPUBLICAN terror gang has issued death threats against 12 alleged drug dealers and their families. The threats set a new precedent for republican pparamilitaries who consider themselves ‘anti-drugs’.

When it comes to attacking so-called suspected ‘dealers’ dissidents aren’t prepared to just stop there. Instead , they’re now targeting their victims’ familes as well, telling them to pack up and leave the country – immediately. Victims campaigner Raymond McCord, this week told the Sunday World that he had been given a cheap model pay-as-you-go mobile phone – which was wrapped in cling film to protect fingerprints – at a drop point by republican paramilitaries. On the phone, which was otherwise blank, was a text message with a list of 12 names on it. The paramilitaries told Mr McCord that the 12 people were drug dealers who had to leave the country with their families immediately or face being shot. Mr McCord explained : “I have received threats in the past naming alleged drug dealers. However, the most sinister element surrounding these new threats is that these people are not just targeting the people who they claim are involved in drugs, but they are also targeting their families.”

He added : “That includes wives and children who are being forced to serve exile under threat from republican paramilitaries. This is one of the most serious developments in the whole scenario that I’ve come across. “They’re not even giving them 24 hours. According to the group, the 12 people on the list and their families must leave the country immediately.” Upon receiving the names on the mobile phone and the names, Mr McCord told the group that he was obliged to turn the names of those on the phone over to the police. “Because of this I felt duty bound to pass this information to the police and I’ve made those who passed on the names aware that I was going to do so, even though they didn’t want to say which Republican group they represent.” Mr McCord also says he knows some of the people on the list and he is sure they are not involved in drugs dealing. In the past, republican paramilitaries have been ruthless in their vigilante pursuit of people who they regard as drug dealers. In 2012 they murdered Derry man Andrew Allen who’d been put out of Derry by dissident republicans the previous day. He was killed at his rented house in Links View Park, Buncrana, Co Donegal on February 9 last year. A gang of men attempted to break down his front door before shooting Andrew through a widow. In October of last year the Sunday World reported that Andrew’s murder may have been the result of a personal vendetta of a member of republican pparamilitary group Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) because of a love triangle and not drugs related at all. In 2010 the Real IRA killed 31-year-old Korean Doherty. The Derry man’s bound and bloodied body was found at the side of a remote country road.

They claimed Kieran was a drugs dealer. At the time they said : “We executed him because he was involved with a criminal organisation with links to the drugs trade and was profiteering. He knew the risks involved in what he was doing.” In an interview with the Sunday World after his murder Kieran’s family vehemently denied he had anything to do with the drugs trade.

DELAYS in reaching an unconscious prisoner in the wake of a suicide bid may have contributed to the serious brain damage he suffered, a watchdog report has found. The 30-year-old convicted sex ooffender, who had a history of psychiatric problems, self-harm and alcohol abuse, was being held in the Care and Supervision Unit (CSU) at Maghaberry Prison when he tried to hang himself in his cell in February last year.

As part of supervision measures for patients deemed to be at risk, he should have been checked on every 15 minutes. But an investigation by Prisoner Ombudsman Pauline McCabe found that when the Prisoner – referred to as Mr C – was discovered unresponsive in his cell by an officer, 29 minutes had elapsed from the last time he was observed through the door flap. Ms McCabe said it took a further five minutes to get the cell opened, as a senior officer was also required to be present under security protocols. Resuscitation was commenced with the assistance of prison nurses and after 10 to 15 minutes Mr C had begun to breath again. Paramedics arrived almost half an hour after the prisoner was found.

Ms McCabe said there had been a four-and-half minute delay requesting an ambulance due to “an unfortunate misunderstanding” of a radio message sent by the senior office at the scene. While the prisoner ultimatley survived the episode he was left with complex physical disabilities and cognitive impairment caused by severe brain injury, including an inability to speak and communicate basic needs. He is now cared for in a nursing home. Edward Brackenbury, an expert askec by the ombudsman to assess the medical impact of the delays in reaching the prisoner, said : “Even the smallest delay in rescure will be important in determining the success, or otherwise, of resuscitation following hanging”. The delay was one of 44 issues of concern flagged up by Ms McCabe in her report. While the ombudsman regularly investigates deaths in custody, the probe was the first ‘near-death’ inquiry carried out by the watchdog. Ms McCabe raised concern at the length of time Mr C was confined to his cell during his time in custody and the failure to refer him for a mental health assessment at time of commitgal to prison.
