Republican Sinn Féin (RSF) will be holding a protest in Monaghan Street Newry on Saturday 3rd February at 1pm.

The purpose of the protest is to highlight the blatant intermnent of Gabriel Mackle in Maghaberry jail.

Gabriel Mackle is is one of three currently interned by the British State, the other two are Tony Taylor and Neil Hegarty. These three men are Not the first and have joined The long list of Irish Men and Women who have suffered under The British Injustice system. The Irish people do not stand a chance of fair treatment under British occupation.

We call on all Republicans to join us on the streets of Newry to show your support for Gabriel and the other political internees.

With many thanks to: Chris Hamll, Republican Sinn Féin

Details of the funeral of the mother of Bobby Sands – Rosaleen Sands (née Kelly) May she Rest in eternal Peace

Dear Mum by Bobby Sands

Dear Mum, I know you’re always there

To help and guide me with all your care,
You nursed and fed me and made me strong
To face the world and all its wrong.

What can I write to you this day
For a line or two would never pay
For care and time you gave to me
Through long hard years unceasingly.

How you found strength I do not know
How you managed I’ll never know,
Struggling and striving without a break
Always there and never late.

You prayed for me and loved me more
How could I ask for anymore
And reared me up to be like you
But I haven’t a heart as kind as you.

A guide to me in times of plight
A princess like a star so bright
For life would never have been the same
If I hadn’t of learned what small things came.

So forgive me Mum just a little more
For not loving you so much before,
For life and love you gave to me
I give my thanks for eternity.

With many thanks to: Wosba, Sands Devlin Cumann

Asgard 1916 Society are set to host a commemorative event to remember the landing of ‘The Asgard’, a yacht owned by Erskine Childers on 26th April 1914, with 1,000 Mauser rifles and ammunition onboard.

‘The Asgard’ arrived in Ireland on 26th April 1914

The weaponry would in time be used in the Easter Rising two years later.

Subsequent and in response to the landings, which were supervised by the then Irish Volunteers and assisted by Na Fianna Éireann, the British Army killed four unarmed civilians at Bachelor’s Walk in the city. The victims will also be remembered on the day and as part of the commemoration.

Join us at the East Pier in Howth on Saturday the 22nd of July at 2pm, in tribute to those who landed the Asgard and to the victims of Bachelor’s Walk. Wreaths will be laid and guest speakers from the 1916 Societies will address the gathering. A Colour Party in period dress and Republican Flute Band will also be in attendance for what is sure to be a fitting commemoration.

Refreshments and traditional Irish music in O’Connell’s Bar at the Est. Pier Howth after the commemoration, all are welcome.

As allways this is a non-party political event and family friendly.

With many thanks to: Asgard 1916 Society Howth, Dublin.
