MacSwiney Brugha Dies !
MAIRE MacSwiney Brugha, the only child of republican Terence MacSwiney, has died at the age of 94. She died at her home in Clonskeagh in Dublin on Monday. Her father Terence MacSwiney died on October 25th 1920 after 73 days on hunger strike in Brixton Prison in London. His daughter married Ruairi Brugha, son of revolutionary Cathal Brugha, in 1945. Ms MacSwiney Brugha’s autobiography, History’s Daughter: A Memoir from the Only Child of Terence MacSwiney, was published in 2005. Politicians including Fianna Fail leader Michael Martin and Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams paid tribute to her.
